Rubricht von Helsing is ex-Imperial Guard, having served a term as chaplain attached to the Sepherin 98th Rifles. When that regiment was nearly destroyed in action, the survivors were offered the chance to muster out. A large group of them were recruited by the d'Raliers, and Rubricht went with them.
He is loyal to the d'Raliers and to the crew and ship.
He is faithful and believes in faith as a route to improving humanity's lot. He does not believe in using faith as a tool of oppression or as a weapon against its own adherents except as necessary.
